06/09/2004 7:36 PM Pacific Time I am new to C22's this spring. I have just refinished the tiller and onepiece rudder and they look great! I was reading in the manual that the rudder is attached only after the boat is in the water.
... I'm envisioning holding it out over the water to get the tiller through first and then hang the rudder on the pintles .
...That thing is 'brutish' ... how do you folks do it?

06/09/2004 8:56 PM Pacific Time Use a 3/8 bolt and wing nut to attach the tiller to the rudder head. Ship the rudder, by hanging it over the stern. Stick the aft end of the tiller thru the "notch" in the transom and insert the bolt and attach the wing nut. Keep a spare wing nut and bolt in the coaming compartment.

Find a good ramp that you know the rudder will not drag the ramp.

... by the way, do you store your rudder and tiller on board?
