Racing advantage of fixed Blade Rudder over Kick up Blade?

08/16/2004 6:54 AM Pacific Time While I do not race, one advantage is that the fixed blade will not swing up on you while sailing. I find that there is a tendency for the kick up rudder to raise, particularly when running with the wind, and the stronger the wind the greater the likelihood.

08/16/2004 12:16 PM Pacific Time I don't know if there is any advantage one way or another, some of the really good racers have kickups. However, I prefer a straight rudder and I have kick-up that is available. I'll put it here and in the for sale also.
