Newer standards by the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and the US Cosat Guard dictate that plastic bowls should not be used when installed in an engine compartment.

This makes sense as, if there is an engine compartment fire, the first thing to go would be the plastic bowl, dumping more fuel on the file. We recommend replacing your plastic bowl with the metal bowl offered below under "May we also suggest.
