All Catalina Direct mains'ls including the C-25 and larger are equipped with full battens.

Full battens provide additional support for the sail. Since the sail cloth doesn't have to take the entire load, the cloth (and the sail) maintains its shape longer.

Full battens are much quieter when you tack or luff the sail. They also prevent the sail from flogging while motoring as you hoist the sail. This reduces chafe and again provides a longer lasting sail.

The sail slides on the Catalina 27 and larger are attached with our unique attachment method. When lowered, the sail automatically wants to fall in one direction. At every other slide the attachment is reversed so the sail wants to fall first to port, then to starboard, then back again, making it easy to flake the main onto the boom.
