Exhaust riser for a Catalina 30 equipped with a Yanmar YSB 12 engine. Stainless steel is used in our version, unlike the original black iron which came from the factory. The picture above is an example only. Your riser may look different. There are no engineering drawings available for for the riser used in this early engine installation. You must send us your old riser to achieve a correct fit.
This riser is rather long with a complicated series of angles, all of which must be correct in order to achieve a proper fit. As you can see from the "Additional Photos" below, your old riser will likely be in a condition that will make it less than a perfect template. We include threaded joints in strategic places to allow you to adjust the angles to match your installation. Typically, an engine flange must be fabricated as an integral part of this riser. This is included in the price and can be seen at the right in the photo.
We include all of the insulation materials necessary for installation after the riser is adjusted to fit your boat. Always install a hump hose between the exhaust riser and the aqualift muffler. The hump hose is more flexible than standard exhaust hose. It will help prevent damage to the muffler caused by the harsh vibrations of the diesel engine. See "May we also suggest" below.
Notes:
1) In addition to the above parts, you will need to purchase from a hardware store a high temperature sealant such as is used on a hot water heater to seal the threads. The engine flange is included as part of the riser. You will also need a new gasket where the flange mounts to the engine. You may be able to purchase the gasket from a Yanmar engine distributor.
