Does anyone know what type finish (e.g. varnish, poly-eurothyane, satin, semi-gloss, etc.) comes on the cabin table top from the factory on a 2000 Catalina 36 Mk II? We are wanting to refinish ours and want to avoid creating more work than necessary. |

good question. I am building a solid teak table for mine right now, and I plan to varnish it. But, I would like to hear how the real table is done. By the way I just ordered the teak a few weeks ago... WOW that is some expensive stuff in 1 inch boards!!! |

All the Catalina issued ones I've seen were formica fake finish over pressurized wood. I've seen a number of owner upgrades that looked quite nice. Too late now but Hondouran Mahogany is lots cheaper than teak, just as durable, looks like teak and stains like teak. We used it in a lot of boat projects from our C30 down to our C22. Good luck on your project. |
