Let me suggest that you purchase a copy of either Sailboat Hull And Deck Repair or This Old Boat by Don Casey. It will give good directions on how to repair fiberglass in general. They are excellent resources for any boat owner. |

This is a very easy straight forward repair. Remove one side slide track (best to remove both and replace the cork under them, buy the cork from a auto parts store it is rubber reinforced, the 1/16" is thick enough one roll is enough for both sides.
Back to the repair, using blue masking tape to make a mold begin by cutting a few strips of fiberglass mat, wet a few pieces and lay them in. (Using a paint brush wet out the area thoughly first). After the first sets up the blue tape can be removed then continue to add fiberglass strips using wider pieces until the desired thickness is reached. Once that's reached cut off excess sand and form then paint. I've several pictures of the process, provide a address if youd like to review them. |
