I am re-wiring the mast on my '89 and have already pulled out (leaving a messenger line) the mid-mast forward light. When I tried to do the same with the mast-head light, nothing would budge from either end. My boat neighbor though that maybe the wire was wrapped around some bolts near the top of the mast. Does anyone have any info on this? I don't want to remove the masthead assembly if I don't have to.

I am not aware of any place in the mast where that wire could be hung up or anchored. Pulling the masthead is easy, so I'd just do it and check to make sure.
