I just finished repairing several cracks in the rudder and before I replace the pintles, I wondered if I needed to try to seal these against water. Is it necessary, and if so, how is this best accomplished? Thanks for your help.

You need to seal any entry point for water or moisture. 3M 4200 is an excellent sealing agent.
