I got a swim latter from Catalina Direct... but I am kinda leery of mounting the latter on the stern, I cannot see any reason for the latter to not be pulled off the first time one a heavier person tries to climb up from the water... I have considered putting some wood inside the boat to distribute the weight of the mounting brackets. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

My 1986 has the boarding ladder. I believe there are 3 thru-bolts on each mount, and there is a 4"x16"x 1/2" fiberglass backing board behind them. Make sure you use some kind of reinforcement, and you'll be fine. |

I installed a CD swim ladder recently and it was a pretty easy project. Yes, use backing plate for sure! You can see my installation steps at:

At 260 my standard CD ladder holds me fine, I do have inside & outside stainless steel backing plates. _B |
