Is it necesary to put a backing behind the ladder mounts to distribute the weight? I am worried that if a heavier person tries to climb up (and the ladder is only bolted to the fiberglass) it might rip out.
Thanks in avance for any advice

I documented adding my swim ladder last year. For photos and information go to:
"Upgrade, Repair, Restoration and Refinishing Projects"
http://www.chipford.com/projects.htm
Then scroll down to and click on "Mounting a Swim Ladder".
I hope this helps.
