I'm baaaaack! I see that most of you put your hull number w/your 'bio'. Is that just the number section of the HIN?My HIN is XXXXX730M82C....Does this mean that the Hull # is 730? And does that tell you which boat mine was on the production line?

Michael, yes, you are correct. So the sail # denotes the hull number, I assume. Seems odd, as HIN stands for Hull ID Number, so it would seem logical that the hull # would be part of that....but, not everything is logical, is it?.

Hi Linda- I am curious as to why you did not quote the full Hull ID number. As Michael points out the secret to deciphering the number is located on the Natioal Association web site.
In the Catalina 22 class at least it is common practice to put the numeric portion of the hull number on the mainsail. However, if you acquired the boat from a previous owner, there is no guarantee that mainsail was not purchased from someone elses boat. To get the official number check the small metal tag on the inside of the transom. Catalina Yachts has built so many Catalina 22s that they have had to drop the leading numeral from the HIN. |

Full HIN # is CTYHO730M82C. Just happened to remember the last couple numbers, no hidden reason for the X's!
I forget what the sail # is, but the previous owner was proud to announce that he had the main and jib w/the sail # on it. I am pretty sure that Mike had the correct # if I recall the photo of the sail. I have not raised any sails, yet. Was working on that drain problem, first.

I just acquired my C22 this past weekend. She has been sitting on the botton for about two years. As you can imagine I have quite a bit of work to do. I am told she is a 1974 model. Where is the hull number located? Everything is covered with barnacles. |

Clifford, look on the outer transom in the far starboard corner just beneath the rubrail. It will be etched into the fiberglass. There also should be a small metal plate fastened to the center of transom inside the cockpit.
