I am new to sailing. I recently purchased a 1982 Catalina 22 and am learning as I go along. Unfortunately, I don't have an owner's manual. One problem I'm having is understanding how the mainsail halyard and jib line run on the mast. Do the cables run inside or outside of the mast? A link to a diagram or naming a reference would be much appreciated. Thanks

On my boat, the halyards run on the outside of the mast. The jib halyard runs up the back side of the mast, over the masthead, then forward towards the jib. The main halyard runs up the front of the mast, over the top, and down the back of the mast.
However, I've seen Catalina 22 masts where the halyards run on the inside. I'm not sure if they're third-party after-market masts or something special offered by Catalina. |
