Does anyone have roller reefing for their mainsail?
my 1975 C22 boom has fitting on the front for roller reefing. It operates ok but there is no way to put tension on the foot of the sail and I have to remove the boom vang.
Is there a way to convert this to regular slab reefing? Has anyone replaced this with a regular reefing hook on the gooseneck ? |

If you have reef points in your sail, you can install slab reefing by mounting a few fairlead, pulley, and cleat on the boom. The fairlead needs to be 3-4 inches aft of the rear reef point. The pulley is on the other side of the boom opposite the fairlead, and the cleat is about 1 foot behind the gooseneck. |

Are you sure it's for reefing? Some people put a part on the gooseneck so they can furl the sail around the boom for storage, after they have removed the boom vang and the mainsheet, and it's not meant for reefing the sail. |
