Do some research on Shane St Clair, he crossed the Pacific in a Capri 18. (Capri is made by, and is a sporty version of a Catalina) I personally would not want to be on a boat that small in the ocean, and I'm sure it takes some serious modifications to get a boat like that sea worthy, but it's been done. I've worked commercial fishing boats off the Oregon Coast and have seen waves that I didn't think were real and doubt that a Catalina 22 would survive, but...who knows. Amazing people make amazing things happen all the time. |

Michel, Just finished reading, A Speck on the Sea, by William H. Longyard: epic voyages in small boats. I soloed 46 miles back and forth on Monterey Bay last summer. Personally I wouldn't go much farther. However, in the book, a Potter 19 sailed from San Francisco to Hawaii. I applaud your sense of adventure... |
