We start with corrosion resistant type 316 stainless steel wire. A roll swaged fittings is used at the bottom while the nicopress top is continued due to the required masthead clevis pin size. A new open design turnbuckle body can be securely pinned to prevent the turnbuckle from unscrewing.
Turnbuckle clevis pins and new cotter pins are provided. Includes a backstay pigtail to hold your boom while at anchor or in your slip.
You may want to consider either a Boomkicker or a
topping lift to handle the boom while hoisting the main or during a reef. You may just prevent whacking someone in the head with the boom!
1) In 2010 Catalina started supplying their boats with Seldén masts and standing rigging. Current production Capri 18 (hulls 743 and up) are now equipped with Seldén rigs. These boats require different mast fittings. If your boat has a Seldén rig, call our Technical Support at 916/843-1971.
2) Caution: Always unhook the pigtail before attempting to hoist the main. If you get a puff with the main partially raised and the boom hooked to the backstay, you may break the hook on the pigtail. Worse, if the hook doesn't break, you are likely to round up into the wind uncontrollably and hit someone or something you hadn't planned on!
3) This is a custom made part. You provide the information we need to build this product for you. Once you order it we are going to build it just for you, just as you asked. We never want to see it again, and no one else wants it either. So be careful and order it correctly the first time because it can't be canceled, returned, or magically changed into something different!
4) A 50% nonrefundable deposit will be billed when your order for this item is accepted. The balance will be billed when the product ships.
