An easy and inexpensive way to keep you and the crew from being "bonked."
A custom made, vinyl coated 3/32" stainless wire attaches next to the backstay at the masthead. At the bottom is a small block. A cleat is installed on the bottom of the boom. At a location convenient to the crew to increase light air performance, use the topping lift to raise the boom thereby freeing the leech of the main.
When you pull on the line, the boom rises (high enough to be completely clear of the cockpit for an evening at anchor!) Unlike the pigtail commonly seen attached to the backstay near the boom, the topping lift allows the boom to swing outboard without tugging on the backstay. Therefore the topping lift safely keeps the boom out of the cockpit even if the boat is off-the-wind. Very helpful while hoisting or dousing the main or while reefing.

The length of this item is based on the original factory specifications. However, the previous owner, like Captain Jack Sparrow, may have had an entirely different idea about how to rig a boat! Please confirm this is the correct length for your particular boat. We cut it from a long length and can't splice it back together again. Your order cannot be canceled, returned or exchanged, but, like Jack, you may have a different idea of what you can use it for!
