Gin pole saddle assembly for the Catalina 22.

Heavy wall aluminum tube is welded to a saddle that bears against the mast to accept the compression load of the gin pole. The aluminum assembly is then anodized for corrosion resistance. A plastic sleeve is provided to accept the inside diameter of the gin pole tube. The 1/2" diameter hole you see in the saddle is simply a spot where the raising tackle block can be quickly shackled for convenient storage.

1) Proper adjustment and use of the gin pole assembly is imperative to prevent bending or breaking this saddle assembly.

2) It is mandatory that the original Dacron jib halyard supplied by the factory be replaced by a close to zero stretch line. The original equipment halyard allows far too much stretch to maintain the gin pole in a position that is perfectly perpendicular to the mast when load is applied to the halyard. Use of the original equipment halyard will cause failure of the gin pole or gin pole saddle assembly. See the related item below for the correct halyard.
