The best antenna installation includes an antenna cable with a minimum of connections. If you consider the universe of sailboats, the vast majority rarely have their masts removed. Those boats usually have a continuous run of coax cable from the masthead to the radio. As a result, there is not a large enough market for anyone to manufacture a proper waterproof coax deck connector for trailerable boats.
This fitting solves the need trailerable boats have of disconnecting the coax cable at the base of the mast. Pass the standard PL259 type connector through the deck and make the connection inside the boat away from the weather and salt water. When it's time to unstep the mast, disconnect the cable belowdecks, remove the top half of the through deck fitting and the coax connector will pass through the deck.
