For your safety and the safety of your crew, inspect your lifeline regularly. If they are over 10 years old, replace them. Corrosion inside of old end terminals will cause failure at the worst time.
We make it easy to add lifelines to an early boat or replace your existing lifelines. We use only type 316 corrosion resistant stainless wire (not the usual type 304) vinyl coated to 5/16".
The wire diameter is 3/16".
Our deluxe kit adds a gate at the aft lifeline ?. This puts the pelican hook at the front of the cockpit making it easy to reach from the dock. When the gate is open, the forward lifeline remains tight. A modern ? inspired pelican hook is by far the easiest design to open and close. Just squeeze and it snaps shut.
We make installation simple. Each wire is complete with one end pre-swaged. You install the other end to the dimensions of your boat.
The assembly also includes the tools needed for installation. Trim the wire to length with the stainless cable cutters Install the last end fitting on each wire. The installation tool, used before by the owners like yourself, may be returned for a refund.
The pelican hooks in this kit have a replaceable pin mechanism. For this to be possible the pin must be removable. Removable pins can be lost. We highly recommend having a spare aboard for safety. We check all departing orders that include pelican hooks to ensure the pins are included. If you loose a pin or two order spares, see our Pelican Hook Rebuild Kit found under "May we also suggest" below.
