This kit includes a beefy investment cast stainless steel car.

Our heavy duty and light duty kits (suitable for use on a C-22 only, not larger boats) are the same with one important difference, the car itself. The heavy duty car is made from a single piece of investment cast stainless steel.

The light duty car is folded from sheet stainless and is suitable for whisker pole use in light to moderate winds. The investment cast car is much stronger. The extra strength makes it suitable for use with a heavy duty whisker pole in heavy winds or with a spinnaker pole. We don't recommend the light duty car for use with a spinnaker.

1) Note for Catalina 27, C-270, C-28, and Catalina 30 owners: We assembled this track kit for use on the Catalina 22 and Catalina 25. It may be interesting for you to know that for years Catalina Yachts used a similar 1" track with the weaker folded stainless car on both the Catalina 27 and Catalina 30 spinnaker gear package. In most cases it worked just fine. However, if the crew got carried away, hootin' it up on a spinnaker broad reach in 20 knots, you might blow it right off the mast. But if you use it for a cruising spinnaker in moderate winds it should be just fine. Only you can decide how rambunctious your crew is!

2) Although there are various track manufacturers, there is only one source for the molded plastic end stop. Various tracks, even of the same 1" width, are produced with risers of differing dimensions. This does not affect the functionality of any of the tracks, but it does mean that you may need to modify slightly (or simply trim off entirely) the little plastic tabs on the end stops that slip under the end of your track.
