Opening Port Gasket, 5000 Series Bomar Nibo 7-5/8" x 14-9/16" <- '95 Aftermarket

Part #: Z4720
$26.70
The original gasket for the 5000 Series Bomar Opening Port built before 1995 is no longer available. Bomar supported this opening port for 23 years after production ceased. When a product has been out of production for over 20 years, Bomar will no longer purchase materials to continue to support such an old item. The extruder of this gasket has a 20,000 foot minimum that prohibits us purchasing and providing to our Catalina customer's due to lack of demand for that great amount. So we have come up with an alternative.
This is an aftermarket gasket for use in 5000 Series Opening Ports built before 1995.

Includes adhesive backing, super glue (for the ends), and installation instructions.

Gasket dimensions:
• Height: 1/4"
• Width: 1/4"

Known usage for original 5000 Series Opening ports:
• Capri 26
• Catalina 25
• Catalina 27
• Catalina 270
• Catalina 28
• Catalina 30

Following is some feedback from a customer who has retrofitted this new gasket material to the 5000 series ports on his 1992 Catalina 27.

"The cleanup of the old gasket was a little difficult but the installation of the new one was very easy. The gasket was a little bit narrower than the channel (1/4" dimension) I just needed to take a little care to ensure that the gasket was pressed into the back corner of the channel without rolling it up the back wall. The 1/4" height was more than sufficient to reach the lens and provide sufficient overlap to create a good seal.

The only issue with the reduced height is that the screen is not held in place as tightly as it was with the original (gasket) but there is enough overlap of the edge of the screen to prevent the screen from falling out. I inspected for leaks today after a torrential downpour last night, which had rain driven by 30+ MPH winds directly onto one portlight. No signs of leaking were found."
1) Although similar in size and shape to the original gasket, this gasket is slightly smaller than the original gasket. See "More Images:" below for the cross section comparison.

2) This is a cut to order part. You provide the information we need to cut this product for you. Once you order it we are going to cut it just for you, just as you asked. We never want to see it again, and no one else wants it either. So be careful and order it correctly the first time because it can't be canceled, returned, or magically changed into something different!
