Halyard Replacement, Jib, All Line, C-22

Part #: D2252
If you are using your jib halyard in conjunction with a gin pole to raise and lower your mast, it is imperative the boat's original jib halyard be replaced. The original line has far too much stretch. If you adjust the halyard so that the gin pole is perpendicular to the mast, when the full load of the mast comes to bear on the halyard it will stretch substantially. The stretch allows the gin pole to bend so much that you break the base of the gin pole at the saddle.
This Catalina 22 jib halyard upgrade is made with a Dacron jacket over a Dyneema core. The Dyneema has so little stretch that it is essentially like wire. When load is applied to the halyard by the gin pole, a properly adjusted halyard will not allow the gin pole to bend like a Dacron halyard will.

We include a whip widget to finish off the bitter end. The halyard is long enough to be lead aft to the cockpit. For those who have all line external halyards, this is the only line that will fit.

This halyard is a mandatory replacement for the factory jib halyard when using the gin pole system to raise and lower the mast. Any other type of halyard will have too much inherent stretch and will be dangerous to the crew and the boat. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER TYPE OF HALYARD!

In order to save money, we recommend re-using your old halyard shackle and securing it to the halyard with a bowline knot, just as the factory did. If you need new shackles, see the related items below.

If you are converting a first generation boat (those built until 1985) from wire and line halyards to all line halyards, realize additional savings by purchasing "Halyards to Cockpit Kit" pictured below. That kit includes both halyards plus the custom sheaves required to convert the mast from wire to line.

• Diameter: 1/4"
• Length: 65'

The length of this item is based on the original factory specifications. However, the previous owner, like Captain Jack Sparrow, may have had an entirely different idea about how to rig a boat! Please confirm this is the correct length for your particular boat. We cut it from a long length and can't splice it back together again. Your order cannot be canceled, returned or exchanged, but, like Jack, you may have a different idea of what you can use it for!
