After 66 years supplying the marine industry, Catalina’s primary teak manufacturer closed. Their equipment has been liquidated and the factory sold. We have contracted with an experienced marine millwright who is manufacturing teak parts for us using the original patterns developed for Catalina's original equipment parts. We are excited about this ability to continue to offer replacements for your aging teak.
The weatherboard is the teak trim that is secured to the aft surface of the companionway sliding hatch. This particular weatherboard fits a Catalina 25 with a pop top.
Unfortunately, there are no records of the shape of different versions of the weatherboards used by Catalina Yachts. We believe this version was used on all pop top Catalina 25's with hull number 2156 and later built after 1980. But we would also not be surprised if Catalina threw us a curve and changed it again at some later date. Boats with the new deck built beginning with hull #5803 built in 1988 are particularly suspect. Therefore we have provided measurements for you to compare with your existing weatherboard.
We have not cut the small notches to port and starboard. They vary significantly from boat to boat. You will need the cut the notches to fit. In fact, you may be able to cut smaller notches than were originally installed and thereby reduce the amount of water that can enter the hatch at the corners.
Please verify measurements of your weatherboard before ordering.
