Reefing Kit, Single Line

Part #: H1972
Ease reefing the mains'l on your Catalina 27. Great for short handed sailing.

The reef cleat can be mounted on the mast or the line may be led aft to the cockpit with the addition of the related item listed below. The kit includes all required hardware, blocks, line, and mounting screws for your first set of reef points. To tidy up the reefed sail, we even include ties for the middle grommets.
Single line reefing works best with slides installed on the luff. To make your reefing truly "single handed" ask your local sail loft or send your sail to us for installation of " jack line" on the luff of your main. Several slides are attached to the line which extends from the bolt rope to the luff reef grommet. As you reef, the grommet can be snugged right down to the boom without anyone going on deck to remove slides from the mast track.

When you are ready to shake the reef out, just cast off the reef line and haul the halyard until the main is at full hoist. There is no need to re-feed the bolt rope or luff slides.

Some Catalina 27 owners prefer to use a rope clutch to hold the line. We have included an aluminum cleat to secure the line, but one of the rope clutches listed below will provide faster and easier reefing.

Please note that the deck organizer in the photo is not included. It is there to illustrate where it would fit in the system. Make certain you have an available sheave in your deck organizer, or you may upgrade your current organizer to one listed below.

The length of this item is based on the original factory specifications. However, the previous owner, like Captain Jack Sparrow, may have had an entirely different idea about how to rig a boat! Please confirm this is the correct length for your particular boat. We cut it from a long length and can't splice it back together again. Your order cannot be canceled, returned or exchanged, but, like Jack, you may have a different idea of what you can use it for!
