This part was designed by the factory to be installed into the sail track slot by sliding it up from the base of the mast. It would be difficult to install this strap into the sail track with the mast stepped since the strap is longer than the mast gate. To solve this problem, some owners have chosen to install two of the single pad eyes suggested below.
