Topping Lift Replacement, C-34 Std

Part #: F8062
$111.85
This kit replaces the traditional style topping_lift on the Catalina 34 standard rig. The traditional style topping lift is a vinyl coated wire anchored at the masthead which has a block at the bottom. Yacht braid is secured on the starboard side of the boom, runs up through the block, then back down through a cheek block on the port side of the boom, through fairleads, and ties off on a horn cleat further forward on the boom. A custom made, vinyl coated 3/32" 7x7 stainless wire attaches next to the backstay at the masthead. At the bottom is a small block cleat on the bottom of the boom at a location convenient to the crew. To increase light air performance, use the topping lift to raise the boom thereby freeing the leech of the main.
When you pull on the line, the boom rises (high enough to be completely clear of the cockpit for an evening at anchor!). The topping lift allows the boom to swing outboard without tugging on the backstay. Therefore the topping lift safely keeps the boom out of the cockpit even if the boat is off-the-wind. Very helpful while hoisting or dousing the main or while reefing.

The length of this item is based on the original factory specifications. However, the previous owner, like Captain Jack Sparrow, may have had an entirely different idea about how to rig a boat! Please confirm this is the correct length for your particular boat. We cut it from a long length and can't splice it back together again. Your order cannot be canceled, returned or exchanged, but, like Jack, you may have a different idea of what you can use it for!

Caution: Not for boats equipped with a Dutchman system.
