Good News! Catalina Direct has this part for you again.
We had been unable to supply these parts for several months after we sold the last of Catalina's limited supply. They were last used in production in 2009, at which time the entire design of the refrigerated locker was changed, eliminating this part.
Although Catalina Yachts no longer has this part, we have located the original manufacturer. We decided to import them ourselves in order to have them available for you.
This is the latch used to secure the ice box door on the Catalina 310, Catalina 350, Catalina 380, Catalina 387, Catalina 390, Catalina 400, and Catalina 42.
1) Although we know Catalina used this latch on hundreds of boats, there is no guarantee this is the only latch they used. It is possible that, at some time during production, they ran out of this part and were forced to use an alternate part. Be sure to check the dimensions of your latch using the drawing below to confirm that this is the correct latch for your individual boat.
2) Each boat and door on which these latches were installed were hand assembled resulting in variations in geometry from one to the next. This latch requires ~1/16" recess below the mounting surface for the latch roller to retract.
If the latch is mounted near the edge of the door, there is room in the gap between the door and the catch for the roller to retract. If the latch roller touches the door when the latch is actuated, a thin shim may be needed between the latch and the door. Fashion a shim from something simple like the lid of a coffee can.
