This lightweight stainless steel block with Delrin ball bearings is typically used for the spinnaker gear on the Catalina 22, Catalina 22 Sport, Capri 22 and Catalina 25, but it may be used anywhere a temporary block is needed. Its convenient snapshackle makes it easy to install or remove from the boat. Use for a barber hauler, preventer, cruising spinnaker tack line, or an emergency block if you get an override on a winch which can't be freed without removing the load from the sheet.
The Capri 22 stern
rails have a loop already welded to the base where the block can be secured for a spinnaker sheet. Catalina 22 and Catalina 25 owners will want to install an eye on the pulpit for the purpose using #Z2023 below in "May we also suggest". This fitting provides for installation without drilling holes in the deck or pulpit.
To prevent the line from twisting or binding when used in a cascade or mainsheet system this block is supplied with a feature to lock the rotation of the shackle that is on top of the body of the block. With the use of an Allen wrench, tighten the set screw to lock the shackle in position. When used as a swiveling block, ensure the set screw is not tightened and the swiveling shackle can self-align to find the fairest lead.
