1) The length of this item is based on the original factory specifications. However, the previous owner, like Captain Jack Sparrow, may have had an entirely different idea about how to rig a boat! Please confirm this is the correct length for your particular boat. We cut it from a long length and can't splice it back together again. Your order cannot be canceled, returned or exchanged, but, like Jack, you may have a different idea of what you can use it for!

2) Some customers report their mainsheet is too long. This is by design, the dimensions we provide come right off of your owners manuals. Catalina was always very generous with the amount of line provided with the boat. This is so that, if there is significant chafe of the line, there is a good chance the end of the sheet or halyard can be trimmed off for a fresh start rather than being forced to purchase another line.

Chafe typically happens on halyards at the top of mast. Mainsheets often chafe because, when the boat was commissioned, the dealer failed to lock the blocks to prevent them form rotating at the shackle. When the block is allowed to rotate, the mainsheet twists on itself and causes chafe. Lock your mainsheet blocks using the set screw or jam nut provided to prevent the shackle from rotating.
