When used in large boat outhaul cars, these bearings did not fare well. Over time, the heavy loads, born by (relatively) small bearings, caused them to distort and wear. As a result, trimming the outhaul became more and more difficult.

Consider replacing your old car with the newer design, fitted with Delrin slides. The slides provide much greater bearing surface areas than the original bearings and distribute the load for smoother operation. See below under "Required and Related Products".
