In the photo there is a thin film of plastic that protects the surface during production. The engraver works through this film and removes a white plastic layer to expose a black layer below. We leave the film on the completed part so the part is pristine when you receive it. Install the part, then peal off the film. Crisp lettering and graphics are then revealed.
