1) The dimensions of this part have changed slightly over the years. The original chainplate was only 3-1/2" wide. The width was later increased to 4" for additional strength.

2) Although the hole pattern remained the same, the original round holes were replaced by square to facilitate easier installation with the use of carriage bolts.

3) The position of the bend moved up slightly, farther away from the top fasteners. On new construction this allowed the top fasteners to be farther away from the hull/deck joint. If you are retrofitting to a boat that was originally equipped with the 3-1/2" wide plate. You may use the original holes in the boat. The clevis pin hole in this chainplate, when installed on the boat, will be slightly higher than the original. Adjust for the difference using the turnbuckle. Verify the chainplate illustrated in the drawing below under "Read More:" will fit your boat properly before ordering.
