Seacock 1-1/2" Flush, 90 Degree Hose Barb Left

Part #: RF0042
$195.16
This 1-1/2" seacock valve with a 90 degree hose barb became optional equipment on many Catalinas towards the end of 1993. It became standard equipment on many of the 5 series boats when equipped with electric heads. The flush style thru-hull reduces drag. A buttressed thread profile on both the valve and through-hull makes for a much stronger installation.

A unique feature of this type of valve allows you to lubricate the valve with the boat in the water: A white plug with O ring stows as a cover where the handle attaches to the valve. Remove it, fasten a long lanyard to it and use it to plug the through-hull from the outside of the boat. After servicing the valve, use the lanyard to dislodge the plug from the through-hull and bring it aboard to be be stowed on the valve ready for next season's service.
Known usage: (there may have been others)
See the "Warnings & Notes tab regarding configurations

• Catalina 355: aft holding tank drain valve
• Catalina 445: forward and aft holding tank drain valves
• Any earlier Catalina where a previous owner has installed a "Y" valve providing direct overboard head discharge.
Note: for ease of installation, we stock four different versions of this valve, each of which has the hose connection at a different angle relative to the valve handle and body. See "May we also suggest" below.

Molded Marelon offers superior strength and corrosion resistance. Marelon is lightweight, corrosion and electrolysis free, ideal for thru-hull valves. Marelon is a modern material formulation of polymer composite compounds that uses resins and additives to produce an extremely strong marine-grade product that will not deteriorate like traditional bronze marine plumbing parts. Ideal for above and below the waterline applications.
• Barb size: 1-1/2" hose LEFT direction (see Warnings & Notes)
• Height from base to top of handle when valve is open (maximum height not including wood mounting ring): 7-5/8"
• King nut diameter: 3-1/8"
• Thru-hull minor diameter: 2-3/16"
• Thru-hull major diameter: 2-5/16"
• Thru-hull outside diameter: 2-1/8"
• Thru-hull inside diameter: 1-5/8"
• Thru-hull length overall: 3-3/16"

• Thread type: Buttress

The thru-hull uses a buttress style thread with 45 degree angled threads for exceptional strength and are not compatible with any other valves. A buttress thread design with the same amount of clearance as for a conventional pipe thread will give the impression of greater looseness. However, when the joint is taken up tight, there is a greater area of surface between threads with the buttress thread form creating greater load capacity. Like any threaded pipe assembly thread compound or Teflon tape applied to the threads to seal is required.

There are three possible configurations of this valve depending on the direction of the hose barb in relationship to the handle. When looking down at the valve, with the handle nearest you, the valve is: "Right" (#RF0034) if the barb points to the right, "Left" (this page's #RF0042) if the barb points to the left, and "Standard" (#RF0043) if the barb points away from the handle side. The valve in the primary photo at left is a "Left" configuration.
