Rudder Locking Disk Set Improved C-22, C-250

Part #: D2258
Our improved Rudder Locking Disk Set is now machined from a solid piece of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum. It is much stronger and more consistent in shape than the old aluminum casting. For improved corrosion resistance we have had it black anodized.
A foundry that cast thousands of parts for some of the world's most popular sailboats has closed its doors. With their demise went the very abused tooling that was once used to cast Catalina's rudder locking disk sets. We know you can't sail without them, so we started over, working with modern technology to re-create a part that is superior to the original.

As you can see, the disk on the left has a hexagonal recess that holds the hex head of the rudder lock bolt captive. Since the disk, when installed, can't rotate, you can tighten the rudder lock handle with only one hand.

Caution: #Z2293 Anti corrosion gel must be applied to the threads and the through bolt where it passes through the rudder cheeks to prevent seizing and corrosion. Failure to do so may make it impossible to remove the bolt from the rudder cheeks in the future. See related part below.

If you have a problem keeping the kick up rudder blade down, try adding the kick-up rudder detent rivet listed below.
