1) Flat sided masts were original equipment on boats built after 1979. Check your mast carefully before ordering to confirm you have the flat sided mast.
2) The masthead trucks for the Catalina 22s are produced from the original patterns configured for the nicopress upper ends of Catalina's production forestays. We recommend using and include rigging toggles with our replacement forestays to allow for the addition of a furler. The toggle acts as a universal joint to prevent wire failure due to fatigue from bending each time you
tack.
Some have reported interference issues between the toggles and truck, which can be cleared by removing material from the inside vertical surface of the truck and repainting or by grinding down the sides of the toggle. Both components have more than enough material allowing for the minimal removal of material for free rotation of the toggle.
3) In 2010 Catalina started supplying their boats with Seldén masts and standing rigging. Current production Catalina 22 Sport (hulls 15759 and up) are now equipped with Seldén rigs.
