1) You must cut notches in the cap to accept the upper shrouds. Verify that the cap is completely over the end of the spreader such that the outboard end of the spreader bears against the inside of the cap before securing the cap with rigging tape.

2) It is important that the upper shroud be secured to the spreader separately using siezing wire or a stainless steel cotter pin. This cap, by itself, will not hold the upper shroud into the spreader.
