The new plastic trim is secured in place using adhesive rather than the screws used on the original teak in early boats. Since the teak usually split at the screw holes anyway, Catalina eventually stopped using screws through the teak to eliminate the problem. We recommend securing either the teak or plastic with adhesive (see "may we suggest" below).

It is known that at least some Catalina 38s used two pairs of these in the cockpit.
