Boom Topping Lift CP-18

Part #: BI9055
$106.23
An easy and inexpensive way to keep you and the crew from being "bonked".

A custom made, vinyl coated 3/32" stainless wire attaches next to the backstay at the masthead. At the bottom is a small loop. A line is tied off to that loop, then runs through a block which is attached to the top of the boom, aft. A cleat is installed on the side of the boom.
When you pull on the line, the boom rises (high enough to be completely clear of the cockpit for an evening at anchor!) Unlike the pigtail commonly seen attached to the backstay near the boom, the topping lift allows the boom to swing outboard without tugging on the backstay. Therefore the topping lift safely keeps the boom out of the cockpit even if the boat is off-the-wind. Very helpful while hoisting or dousing the main or while reefing.
