After 66 years supplying the marine industry, Catalina’s primary teak manufacturer closed. Their equipment has been liquidated and the factory sold. We have contracted with an experienced marine millwright who is manufacturing teak parts for us using the original patterns developed for Catalina's original equipment parts. We are excited about this ability to continue to offer replacements for your aging teak.
Our Fleet Spec solid teak tiller is made especially for sailing schools and clubs and other fleets where minimum maintenance is more important than a beautifully varnished tiller. No varnish, no oil, no labor expense to maintain. Just let them turn gray and they'll be fine! Fits all Capri 18's, Capri 22's, and Catalina 22's. There is no substitute for the beauty of five layers of varnish. These tillers are made to be utilitarian and not as beautiful as the African Mahogany and Ash tiller.
Tillers are supplied undrilled to accommodate the various hole patterns used in the tiller straps over the years.
If you haven't already upgraded, now is the ideal time to add our improved heavy duty tiller straps. They are both thicker and wider than the original straps so they are much stiffer. They have a staggered hole pattern to secure them to the tiller making the entire assembly stronger. See "May we also suggest" below.
Always cover your tiller to protect it from the elements (especially the sun) when not in use.
This tiller measures 2" high X 1-1/2" wide (at the rudder end) X 43" long.
1) Since these tillers are made from one piece of wood, one tiller may be stronger than the next depending upon the grain of the wood. Laminated tillers are stronger and are much more consistent in strength from one to the next. If you want a warranty, choose the laminated tiller offered below. This teak tiller is offered without any warranty.
2) Since these are typically sold in large quantities for fleet use, our inventory level varies wildly. If a fleet just purchased our entire inventory, we may be out of stock for some time.
3) Regarding Teak Prices: Due to the volatility of the price of teak wood all teak prices are our closest estimate. If the price indicated above has increased we will contact you prior to shipping.
If delivery time is important, call our sales staff and ask them to check inventory. Being teak, their availability is problematic. Our African Mahogany and Ash tiller offered below under "May we also suggest" is made of more readily available wood and is therefore usually on the shelf.
