Most stern showers on Catalinas are installed such that its hose retracts into the boat and can dry when stowed. A stainless steel hose is less prone to damage from kinking than a PVC hose.

But there is a potential negative to a stainless steel hose. The after-market installation (in the additional photo at left) leaves the hose standing in residual salt water. Stain-less steel does not mean rust-free. If you leave a stainless hose stowed in residual salt water it will soon rust. This is not covered by warrantee.
