To winterize your cooling system, just connect a short garden hose and set the valve handle to the flush position (as pictured). Run the engine briefly to suck your winterizing solution from a container into the engine. When done, switch the valve to the closed position and remove the garden hose. The third (open) position allows raw water into the engine for engine cooling.

Permanently plumb your engine to the horizontal barb. Use the garden hose connection for fresh water flush or antifreeze winterization.
